Weltreise 2014: Wellington by rain - New Zealand Sevens 8th of February 2014

Man soll im Urlaub spontan sein, und genau das waren wir heute... Das Wetter hat sich eher von der bescheidenen Seite gezeigt also hatten wir geplant, erst mal nach einem ausgiebigen Frühstück mit Speck und Eiern (was uns übrigens eine Bratpfanne gekostet hat, aber es hat trotzdem lecker geschmeckt), selbst gemachtem Müsli und Toast in das nahegelegene Spieleparadies zu gehen, die Kinder sich etwas austoben zu lassen und uns dann die Hauptstadt anschauen zu gehen. Auf dem Weg zum Spieleparadies mussten wir aber den Campingplatz um eine Nacht verlängern, weshalb wir dann erst mal zur Rezeption sind. Dort sind uns dann Werbeplakate für das heutige Rugby-Spiel ins Auge gefallen, die Saschas Tränenwasser gleich haben treiben lassen… Also haben wir den Plan etwas geändert, sind erst mal tatsächlich ins Spieleparadies und in der Zeit hat sich Sascha betreffend Spielplan etwas schlau gemacht. Wir sind dann auch alle zum Stadium gefahren, aber leider hatten wir keine Möglichkeit, den Kinderwagen von Neyla unterzustellen, also gab es heute ausnahmsweise mal einen Jungs-Tag und einen Mädels-Tag. Sascha und Janis sind zum Rugby und Domi und Neyla nach Wellington Center. Da die Kamera bei Sascha blieb, gibt’s auch keine Wellington – Bilder, seien wir aber ehrlich, bei dem Unwetter, fast schon Sturm, wären eh keine guten Bilder rausgekommen, also belassen wir es bei den interessanten Themen… J Es war Wellington im Schnelldurchgang, von Unterstellplatz zu Unterstellplatz… Vielleicht haben wir morgen dafür nochmals ein wenig Zeit.

Ein Wunsch von Sascha war es während des Neuseeland Aufenthaltes einmal die All Blacks (Spitzname des neuseeländischen Rugby Teams) live zu sehen. Welch ein Zufall, dass gerade an diesem Weekend die New Zealand Sevens, eine Turnierserie der besten Rugbymannschaften der Welt an 7 verschiedenen Spielorten und einer Spielzeit über 2x7 min, in Wellington stattfand. Janis und Sascha kamen in den einmaligen Genuss, zusammen und rund 30.000 verrückt angezogenen Rugbyfans (eine Stimmung und Kostüme wie an Karneval) rund 10 Spiele zu verfolgen. Beeindruckend waren insbesondere die Härte und Athletik des Spiels. Die Fussballer sind im Vergleich dazu alle Heulsusen. So haben uns die Frauen trotz des permanenten Regens einen tollen Nachmittag geschenkt.

You should be spontaneous, especially on your holiday, and that’s exactly what we are… As the weather was pretty bad today, we had a wonderful breakfast with bacon and eggs (which ruined our pan, but it was very tasty anyway), home-made muesli, and toast. We then had planned to go the kids’ paradise right next door to give the kids some fun time. After that, we actually wanted to go to Wellington and check out what it looks like. But first we had to go to the reception to extend our stay for another day. Right there, we saw some placards regarding the rugby game today. Needless to say Sascha got all emotional just to look at them. Therefore we decided to change our plans and check out the possibilities to watch a live rugby game. We did go to the kids’ paradise as promised the kids, but this gave Sascha some time to find out a little more about the schedule and the running games. We all went together to the stadium, but unfortunately, we had Neyla’s stroller with us and of course you are not allowed to enter the stadium with a stroller, but there was also no possibility to lodge it for a couple of hours. Therefore, we spontaneously had a men-day and a ladies-day... Sascha and Janis went to the rugby game and Domi and Neyla went to the center of Wellington. As Sascha took the camera, there are not pictures of Wellington, but to be honest, due to the bad weather conditions, it wouldn’t have been possible to make some nice shots anyway. It was a very superficial sightseeing tour, as we had to protect ourselves from the rain wherever possible. So leave the pictures to the important things... J Maybe we get another chance tomorrow to see a little more of Wellington.

Sascha always wanted to see the All Blacks live during his stay in New Zealand (that’s the nickname of the New Zealand rugby team). What a coincidence the best rugby team from all over the world played in Wellington that weekend. It’s called the New Zealand Sevens where the best rugby teams play in 7 different areas for 2x7 minutes. Sascha and Janis got the chance to see 10 different games in the middle of total crazy fans, all dressed up like in carnival. The most impressing thing was the strength but still athleticism of the game. Comparing to them football players are all snivelers. That way the ladies offered us a nice afternoon despite of the rain.
