Weltreise 2014: Anaura Bay - East Cape lighthouse 14th of February 2014

Das haben die Männer ja wieder prima hinbekommen. Janis hat das Wohnmobil gelenkt und Dad Dad hat sanft Gas gegeben. Blöd nur, dass keiner von beiden in den Rückspiegel geschaut hat. Folge: Blinkerschaden hinten links. Gratulation J. Mit ramponiertem Fahrzeug steuerten wir dann den Traumstrand von Anaura Bay an. Der Umweg von rund 7 km lohnt sich definitiv, wenn sich die Suche nach einem Parkplatz auch etwas schwieriger gestaltete. Am Ende wurden wir aber fündig und genossen 3 schöne Stunden an unserem „Privatstrand“ (u.a. mit Boccia, Sandburgen bauen, Fussball, Joggen und sit-ups) – Wahnsinn, dass man solche Strände ganz für sich alleine hat. Aus Mangel an Badewindeln kam es dann noch zu einer besonderen Premiere. Janis „pinkelte“ zum ersten Mal wie ein Mann im Stehen und war danach unglaublich stolz. Nach einem kleinen Einkauf in Tokomaru Bay folgten wir dem Pacific Coast Highway rund 100 km nach Te Araroa. Von hier aus fuhren wir dann nochmal 20 km auf zum Teil spektakulärem Strassenbelag, der uns zwischenzeitlich befürchten liess, dass wir die komplette Bordküche neu ersetzen müssen, zum östlichsten Leuchtturm der Welt. Nach über 700 Stufen hatten wir schlussendlich den Anstieg durch ein Urwaldgebiet erklommen und erfreuten uns am Fusse des Leuchtturmes des wunderschönen Ausblickes. Neyla und Janis zeigten erneut ihre Qualitäten als „Bergziegen“. Neyla lief nahezu 400 Stufen(zum Teil sehr hohe Stufen) selbstständig und Janis wäre problemlos bis ganz oben gekommen, wenn die Zeit nicht ein bisschen gedrängt hätte. Beim Rennen um den Turm stürzte Janis leider und zog sich dabei eine „klaffende Fleischwunde“ (so hätte er wohl die kleine Schürfwunde umschrieben) zu. Die Szenen, die sich in der Folge abspielten waren filmreif. Er ertrank komplett im Selbstmitleid, Neyla steht bei sowas einfach auf und rennt weiterJ (aber da kommt er ganz nach seinem Vater). Der Rückweg über die Schotterpiste ermöglichte uns bei 20 kmh Fahrtgeschwindigkeit die Schönheit der Natur zu geniessen. Die Nacht werden wir auf einem Campingplatz kurz vor der Hicks Bay bestreiten.

Well done guys… Janis steered the car while Sascha gently accelerated. Too bad none of them checked the rear mirror. Consequence: damaged back light. Congratulations J We then drove to the dream beach of Anaura Bay in a bashed-up car. The slight detour of around 7km is definitely worthwhile, even if it is a little complicated to find a parking slot. But we finally found one and spent another 3 hours at our “private beach”, again with boccia, building castles, football, jogging and even sit-ups... it’s totally insane to have such beaches just on your own. As we did not have any special diapers for swimming we had a premiere... Janis “peed for the first time like a man” and was incredibly proud after it... After some small food shopping in Tokomaru Bay we followed the Pacific Coast Highway for another 100 km to Te Araroa. From there we went on a special track which took us to the most eastern located lighthouse. The road surface was so bad; we had the feeling we would have to replace the whole kitchen equipment after we got back... After 700 steps of a staircase through the jungle we finally reached the lighthouse and had an absolute fantastic view from there. The kids again did a fantastic job hiking, Neyla did over 400 steps of the staircase alone (some of them were extremely high) and Janis would have done the whole way alone if we had not been a little short on time. During playing around Janis then fell on his knee and contracted a flesh wound as he would describe the little scrape... The following sceneries where made for the movies... he got lost in self-pity where Neyla would just get up and continue her thing... J (he is just like his Dad Dad). As we could not drive any faster than 20 km/h on our way back, we had at least some time to enjoy the fantastic nature. We will spend the night on a camping site right before Hicks Bay.
