Weltreise 2014: Cable Bay - Cable Bay Coast Walkway, 5th of February 2014

Ein Tag voller Aktivitäten an der Cable Bay liegt hinter uns (die Bay hat ihren Namen erhalten, weil von hier aus die erste Kabelverbindung nach Australien gestartet wurde). Der Reihenfolge nach: Frühstücken, abwaschen, Wäsche waschen und aufhängen, Cappuccino trinken, Hundebabies anschauen, wandern, Tennis spielen, kochen, Feuer machen. Wir fühlen uns auf diesem Campingplatz wirklich pudelwohl und sind froh, dass wir für einen weiteren Tag verlängert hatten. Nach Abreise nahezu aller Gäste gehörte der Platz zudem quasi uns. Bei herrlichem Wetter übernahmen die Männer das Wäsche waschen und Janis unterstütze beim Aufhängen wirklich klasse. Nach einem leckeren Cappu im nahegelegenen Cafe ging es dann zum Welpen-Watching. 8 süsse kleine Hunde verzauberten uns wirklich für eine Viertelstunde , nötigten Janis und Neyla aber auch den nötigen Respekt ab. Von dort starteten wir dann eine fantastische Rundwanderung über den Cable Bay Coastal Walkway. Wir wussten gar nicht wie gross Schafe werden können – mit einem Stein ausgestattet bahnten wir uns unseren Weg durch diverse Schafherden. Mit Neyla im Gepäck kann man getrost auf den Stein verzichten J. Der Blick vom Gipfel auf die Tasman Bay entschädigte für den mühsamen Aufstieg und wir waren alle froh und stolz, dass wir nach 3 Stunden wieder an unserem Camper angekommen sind (war ein tolles Erlebnis bei dem uns folgende Situation in Erinnerung bleibt. Nachdem wir die Kinder schon eine halbe Stunde auf den Schultern extrem steile Hänge hinaufgetragen hatten und bereits sehr kurzatmig waren gähnten Neyla uns Janis fast gleichzeitig und gaben uns zu verstehen, dass die Wanderung sehr anstrengend und sie sehr müde seien – zum Glück sind sie sooo süss). Und als hätten wir nicht schon genug Sport getrieben ging es im Anschluss noch über eine Stunde auf den Tennisplatz. So ist es auch nicht verwunderlich, dass die Kids nach dem Abendessen nicht mehr allzu lange wach waren und wir bei einem weiteren gemütlichen Feuer noch ein bisschen Zeit für uns hatten. Allerdings zog das herrliche Feuer im Verlauf weitere Camper an und wir schwelgten noch alle ein bisschen über das Camper Leben und die Schönheit Neuseelands.

We have had a day full of action in the Cable Bay (Cable Bay got its name because the first telephone cable to Australia was set here). But let’s start from the beginning. Breakfast, washing up, doing the laundry, drinking cappuccino, looking at little puppies, hiking, playing tennis, cocking, making fire... we really feel extremely comfortable here and we are happy we have extended our stay for another day. After all the other campers had left we had the whole place for ourselves. The weather was fantastic and the men did the laundry, and Janis did a real good job helping. After a nice cappuccino in the little cafe right beside the camping area, the owner of that place took us to his home to show the kids the 8 little puppies his dog had born just a month ago. We stayed there for a while and had difficulties to leave again, we were all so fascinated, but the kids still had a little respect. From there we started our hiking tour over the Cable Bay Costing Walkway. We did not know sheep can get so huge... so just to be safe, we always had a stone in our hand while walking through these sheep flocks but to be honest, with Neyla around you you definitely won’t need any stones for protection... J The view from the top on the Tasman Bay compensated us for all the effort to get there and we were very happy and proud when we got back to our camper 3 hours later. We had to laugh so much when we had carried the kids all the way up (which is really tough as it is quite steep) and the both started moaning at the top of the mountain that they were tired and the hiking was too tough for them... they’re lucky they are so cute... As if we’ve had not have enough sport, we went for hour tennis. So it’s not surprising that it didn’t take the kids very long to fall asleep and we had some time for us to enjoy a nice fire. But it did not take long until the other campers joined us and so we had nice little chats about the beauty of New Zealand.
