Weltreise 2014: Pimalai Resort & Spa + Nemo Release, Koh Lanta + Koh Haa, 22nd of March 2014

Heute morgen hiess es mal wieder früh raus aus den Federn (ganz im Sinne von Neyla). Bereits um 7.30 Uhr ging es mit dem resorteigenen Boot und einer grossen „Clownfish“ Fangemeinde in Richtung Koh Haa. (das ist die Felsformation, die bei den vielen Sonnenuntergangsbilder im Hintergrund schemenhaft zu erkennen ist). Ziel des Ausfluges war das Aussetzen von 180 Clownfischen (besser unter dem Begriff „Nemos“ bekannt) im Fischnaturschutzgebiet von Koh Haa. Eine Aktion, die das Pimalai seit 10 Jahren aktiv unterstützt und die leider nach dem Erfolg des gleichnamigen Kinofilmes (Findet Nemo) notwendig wurde. (der wunderschön anzusehende Fisch war nach dem Film massiv als Haustier gefragt). Janis und Neyla durften auf der einstündigen Fahrt das 40 Mann Boot jeweils steuern (damit ist Janis den Titel des jüngsten Kapitänes los :-)). Koh Haa kann man sich wie aus den Bond Filmen vorstellen (tolle, bewachsene Felsformationen, weisser Sand, azurblaues Wasser). Spannende dabei war für uns, dass man an den Strand schwimmen musste. 100 m mit 2 Kids, die noch nicht schwimmen können und Janis, der panische Angst vor Fischen hat!! Eine Herausforderung, die mit Schwimmwesten aber gemeistert werden konnte. Das Schnorcheln in dieser Region war klasse und die Vielfalt der Fische und Farben atemberaubend (das entsprechende Gopro Video ist wichtig fürs Familienalbum). Der Grund hierfür liegt darin, dass Janis auf dem Rückweg selbständig mit Turtle und Schwimmweste zum Boot zurückgeschwommen ist. Wahnsinnig stark und auch Neyla machte ihre Sache klasse. Das Aussetzen der Nemos in die dafür vorgesehenen Käfige (dient der 14 tägigen Akklimatisierung) konnten wir beim Schnorcheln optimal verfolgen und Janis durfte sogar 2 Nemos an den Taucher übergeben. Eine wirklich tolle Erfahrung. Den Abend schlossen wir dann im Spice n Rice ab (Thai Restaurant). Die Empfehlung der Küche stellte unsere Geschmacksnerven bereits auf eine harte Probe; diente anschliessend bei der Vor- und Hauptspeise aber als neutralisierendes Gut :-). Von den Folgen des Curry wird morgen noch die Rede sein. Eine kleine Anekdote am Rande: Auf meine Frage, ob sie mir den Unterschied zwischen grünen und rotem Curry erklären könne (ich vermutete, dass diese in der Schärfe liegt) antwortete sie. Der Unterschiede liege lediglich in der Farbe :-)

This morning we had to get up pretty early quite in terms of Neyla. At 7.30am already our boat left the resort with a gaggle of clownfish fans direction Koh Haa. Koh Haa is a rock formation you can see on many of our sunset pictures. The goal of this trip was to release about 180 clownfish (better known as “Nemo’s”) in the protected nature reserve. Pimalai has been supporting this action over 10 years now, which has unfortunately become necessary after the movie “Find Nemo”, as the cute little fish have become very popular as pets since then. Janis and Neyla got the chance to ride the boat with over 40 passengers on the 1 hour trip. Janis therefore lost his title as the “youngest captain”. Koh Haa is a kind of rock formation you can see in many James Bond movies. Nice formations, white sand, clear blue water) The surprising part was that we had to swim to the island. 100 m with two kids that can’t swim and Janis who is terrified of fish... but we managed the challenge with life jackets and swim rings. The snorkelling in this area was awesome and the various colors of the fish breathtaking. (the Gopro movie we took will be pretty interesting...) Janis swam the whole way back to the boat in his turtle and his life jacket. We were really impressed and also Neyla did a great job. Like this we could follow the exposure of the fish which are put in place in cages so they can acclimatize to their new environment for the next 2 weeks. Janis even got two fish he could hand over to the divers. A real nice experience for him. After we got back home we had dinner in a typical Thai restaurant called “Spice and Rice”. The chef’s suggestion already put our sense of taste to test. We found it extremely spice but when we got our main courses we had to use it as a neutralizer... We will probably feel the consequences tomorrow... a little remark on the side: we asked the waitress if she could explain us the difference between green and red curry, and which one was spicier; she answered: “There is no difference. The only difference is the color”. :-)
