The mosquitoes gave us a
clear sign that we were not welcome so we decided to leave pretty soon. We
slowly run out of fuel but we just managed to reach Greymouth, a little town
with 10’000 habitants that became famous because it's known as a boom town. We had
our breakfast on a wonderful place with view on the Pacific, and we found out
only later that this was not allowed.... oh, well.... we were then forced to
leave but this took us to an even greater place. We had a full beach area for
ourselves, including a private playing ground. Like this, we could enjoy the
great weather, the rough sea and all the very important features like slides,
swings etc. for several hours. Our next target was Punakaiki which had become a
real tourist attraction due to its fantastic Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. And you
know what? Absolutely deserved. We would say that only the trip from Greymouth
to Punkaiki justifies the flight to New Zealand. The rocks emerging the
sea and the absolute fascinating rainforest around it nearly make you cry, so
beautiful. A real wonderful trip that ends with the amazing Pancake Rocks. They
are called like this because they look like pancakes piled up. It is still not
clear how this happened but it’s worth a trip anyway for anyone visiting New
Zealand. We already feel really comfortable due to the beauty of the country and the friendly habitants. We decided to spend the night on a camping place for the first time as we run out of fresh water after our showers yesterday. At the moment we are sitting in a nice little restaurant with a glass of wine and cricket on TV. You see, we are doing just fine.
