Weltreise 2014: Aufenthalt im Marina Bay Sands Singapur, 23 Januar 2014 - Stay at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore, 23rd of January 2014

Endlich ist der grosse Tag gekommen. Wir switchen vom Fairmont Hotel in das berühmte Marina Bay Sands (MBS), das sich zu einem der Wahrzeichen der Stadt entwickelt hat und mit einer Auslastungsquote von 98 % zu den Top Hotels der Welt gehört. Dennoch fällt uns der Abschied vom Fairmont nicht leicht. Für einen fairen Preis bekommt man mit Kids wirklich einen tollen Service und insbesondere den Inder am Taxi Empfang haben wir alle ins Herz geschlossen. Das Zimmer 3927 im Turm 3 des MBS, das wir bereits um 12.00 Uhr beziehen konnten, löst wirklich den viel zitierten “wow”- Effekt aus. Der Blick auf die Bay und die Skyline von Singapur ist ehrlich gesagt noch ein bisschen besser als derjenige vom Wynn Hotel auf unseren heiss geliebten Las Vegas Strip. An alle, die eine Nacht im MBS planen. Ihr müsst unbedingt die “city view” Variante wählen. Wir haben den early check in gleich dazu genutzt, um den berühmten Infinity Pool des Hotels auf dem Dach auszuprobieren. Mit Ausnahme der Wassertemperatur (schweinekalt) hält dieses "Schwimmbad" der Extraklasse alles was es verspricht. Die angehängten Bilder sagen mehr als tausend Worte. Einen ganz besonderen Gruss möchte ich an dieser Stelle an meine Schwester senden, die heute Geburtstag hat. Happy Birthday und wir können zwar nicht so schnell schwimmen wie du, haben dir aber eine Traumerfüllung voraus J Bei einem Gym mit einem rundum Ausblick auf die Skyline fällt einem sogar das Trainieren leicht (zumal Roger gleichzeitig Murray besiegt hat). An unserem letzten Abend hat uns Patrick (ein wirklich hervorragender Touristenführer, aber ein schlechter Eiskenner) auf der Suche nach einer Eisdiele dann noch neue Viertel von Singapur gezeigt. Wir mussten am Ende zwar mit einem Mc Sundae Eisbecher bei Mc Donalds Vorlieb nehmen, haben aber auf dem Weg dorthin (der mit Janis oder Neyla auf dem Kopf gefühlte Stunden gedauert hat) mit dem Bankenviertel, dem alten Handelszentrum sowie der Partymeile von Singapur wieder neue Facetten dieser tollen Stadt kennen lernen dürfen. Fazit nach einer Woche: Wir waren nicht das letzte Mal hier.

Finally, our big had come. We switched from the Fairmont Hotel to the famous Marina Bay Sands hotel which represents the landmark of the town and has become one of the top hotels of the world with an utilisation of 98 %. Nevertheless, the departure of the Fairmont was not that easy as you get a real good service for a fair price, and they are very kids friendly. On top of that, all of us fell in love with our Indian concierge who was really, really sweet with Janis and Neyla. The room number 3927 of the third tower gave us real goose bumps. We have to admit, the view over the skyline of Singapore and the bay even exceeds the one of the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, which has been our favourite one so far. Of course we then had to experience the famous Infinity pool on the top roof of the hotel which offers you an incredible view. It really keeps all its promises except for the water temperature, which was extremely cold. Check out the pictures below, they say more than words. The fitness centre on the top floor of the 2nd Tower with its view over the skyline even makes the training bearable. (Especially because Roger Federer just beat Andy Murray in that moment). On our last evening, Patrick wanted to take us to his favourite place for an ice cream which we had promised the kids, but unfortunately it was shut. Like this we got to see another hood of Singapore, the financial district, the trading centre and the party area. He really is a good guide, but we have to admit, he failed to take us to a reasonable ice cream shop so we finally ended up in the classical Mac Donald’s with a sundae ice-cream (which was very tasty anyway). Our conclusion of the week in Singapore: we will definitely come back
